LAHORE: The Punjab police on Saturday observed the fourth death anniversary of the police officers who were martyred in a suicide bomb blast at Charing Cross on the Mall Road in 2017.
The officers including DIG Syed Ahmed Mubeen and Senior Superintendent of Police Zahid Mahmood Gondal had lost their lives besides some passersby in the blast that took place on Feb 13, 2017.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar visited the grave of Shaheed DIG Syed Ahmed Mubeen and laid floral wreaths, and offered fateha for the departed soul. DIG Investigation Shariq Jamal, DIG Operations Sajid Kiani, Lahore CTO Syed Hammad Abid and other senior police officers of the city attended the ceremony. The mother of Ahmed Mubeen Shaheed and families of other police martyrs were also present.
Speaking to the media persons, the CCPO expressed his gratitude for the exemplary services of the martyrs. He said Feb 13 was the day of renewal of commitment that the police force would continue its mission by fulfilling duties in all possible circumstances. He said the police officers and officials who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty were frontline soldiers and an asset of the department.
Mobeen’s sacrifice would always be remembered as Punjab police’s history was full of such brave officers, he added.
The CCPO also visited the Yadgar-i-Shuhada Police Lines at Qila Gujjar Singh and laid floral wreath and offered prayers for the martyrs.
