MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Khurram Sohail Leghari has threatened to leave the party, saying that he along with five parliamentarians will not cast vote to PTI candidate in the Senate election.

Leghari claimed to have support of some MPAs.

The ‘disgruntled’ legislator said Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had disappointed him as he did not approve some spurs along the Indus river because thousands of acres land was eroded.

He said on the other hand Buzdar launched mega projects in Dera Ghazi Khan. “Muzaffargarh is also a district of Dera Ghazi Khan division but the chief minister ignored it.”

Leghari said he had promised construction of spurs and other projects to his electorate and the Punjab government disappointed him.

When Dawn contacted to his father ex-MPA Sardar Chunnu Khan Leghari, he said he did not know about the matter. “My son is independent in making his decision.”

Khurram Sohail Leghari (25) made it to the Punjab Assembly for the first time as an independent [legislator] by defeating PML-N’s Makhdoom Haroon Sultan Bukhari in PP-275. Being close to Jahangir Khan Tareen, he entered the PTI folds and Buzdar made him special adviser to chief minister on food security.

Later he was removed due to his ‘controversial’ statements and he was made adviser (special schools) later on.

Six months back, he moved a privilege motion against ex-district police officer Syed Nadeem Abbas because he allegedly wanted to get some first information reports registered against his opponents but Abbas refused to do so. He tried to get the police officer transferred but he failed.

An [PTI] MPA claimed that he was trying to blackmail the government.
