TAXILA: The Punjab government plans to set up two state-of-the-art special education centres in Hazro tehsil.

This was stated by the spokesman for the provincial government Qazi Ahmed Akbar while talking to newsmen after inaugurating classrooms block at Government Girls High School in Nartopa in Hazro tehsil on Wednesday.

He said one centre would be established at Mansar while the other at Jatyial. Qazi Ahmed Akbar, who is also Attock district PTI president, said the two centres would provide better education facilities to the special children of the area.

The spokesman said special children would get quality education and skills at these centres to become better members of the society rather than being dependent on their family and society. He said despite prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, various initiatives had been taken to develop infrastructure of different schools in Hazro and transform the education sector.

The classrooms block has been constructed at the cost of Rs2.8 million. He said the Punjab government was working hard to provide the best environment to the students in their educational institutions and added that education was the first step towards a new Pakistan.

“We want our students to benefit from international educational models and equip themselves with the best education to perform well in their respective spheres of life,” he added.

He said an e-library would be established in Hazro with an allocation of Rs90 million this financial year to provide better education material to the youth of the area.

Mr Akbar said the library would be equipped with 20 latest computers with internet facility and 300,000 books on different subjects including literature, international affairs, history and Islamic studies.

He said that arrangements were being made to provide Montessori teaching material to as many as 17 different primary schools in the area. He said computer and science laboratories would be established in three different high schools of the area during this fiscal year.

The provincial government spokesman said funds had been allocated for establishment of extra toilets in ten different schools of the area.

Responding to a question, he said efforts were being made to address the issue of shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff in the educational institutions of the area.
