KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that 20 more patients died overnight and 954 new cases emerged when 10,600 samples were tested.

In a statement issued here from CM House, he said that currently 18,486 patients were under treatment, of them 17,518 were in home isolation, 13 at isolation centres and 955 in different hospitals.

He added that the condition of 870 patients was stated to be critical, including 92 shifted to ventilators.

According to the chief minister, out of 954 new cases, 749 have been detected in Karachi, including 287 in East, 218 in South, 124 in Central, 67 in Korangi, 34 in West and 19 in Malir.

He said that Shaheed Benazirabad had 41 new cases, Hyderabad 35, Mirpurkhas 20, Matiari 16, Thatta, 13, Tando Mohammad Khan seven, Shikarpur six, Qambar and Sanghar five each, Jamshoro four, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot and Ghotki three each, Khairpur and Naushahro Feroze two each, and Dadu, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur had one case each.
