SAHIWAL: Five people were killed and seven critically injured in two separate accidents in Chichawatni and Pakpattan.

A Burewala-bound van turned turtle near Goun Khan village on Kamalia road between the nights of Friday and Saturday. Witnesses said the accident occurred after the van travelling from Faisalabad hit a roadside tree due to fog and over-speeding by the driver.

Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the injured to Chichawatni THQ Hospital. The victims were identified as Rauf Butt (50), Khalida (55) and Fareeda (45) – all belonging to Vehari. Injured Safia Asslem, Shagufta, Arhan, Farooq and Mubashir were shifted to hospital.

In the second accident on Sunday morning, a speeding tractor trolley hit a motorcycle, killing two of the four members of a family riding it near Kameer Chungi, Pakpattan road. A woman and her minor son died on the spot, while her husband and daughter were critically injured.

The family, belonging to Kameer Town, was going to Pakpattan. Rescue 1122 identified the victims as Robina (30) and six-month-old Ammar, while Arshad (37) and Rubab (7) were critically injured. The injured were shifted to Pakpattan DHQ Hospital. The trolley driver managed to escape from the scene.
