SUKKUR: Prisoners observed hunger strike against jail administration in district prison in Jacobabad early on Thursday morning in protest against lack of facilities and illegal deductions from all the permissible items their relatives brought them.
The jail administration with the help of police tightened security inside and outside the prison in the wake of the protest and immediately informed higher authorities about the inmates’ protest.
When the jail administration locked up the barracks and shifted 17 prisoners to Shikarpur and Sukkur jails over charges of creating disorder, the rest of the strikers ended their protest for fear of being bundled away to other jails away from their relatives.
The additional police contingents which had been called from district administration were sent back after the end of the protest.
