HYDERABAD: Three young girls, two of them sisters, were electrocuted while playing on the roof of a godown in the Hala Naka area on Friday.

Saleema, 12, and Sadia, 6, daughters of Lal Mohammad Pathan, and Bakht Bibi, 12, daughter of Dadullah Pathan, were playing with a wire on the roof of the godown in Khilji Goth near New Sabzi Mandi. They threw the wire which entangled with the 11kV power supply line, passing above the rooftop. As they were holding the wire, they suffered severe electrical shock and died instantly.

A large number of people gathered in the neighbourhood. A pall of gloom hung over the entire locality in the wake of the tragic incident.

Bakht Bibi’s father is a labourer whereas parents of the deceased sisters hailed from Balochistan’s Kuchlak area. Soon after the incident, power supply from the Hala Naka grid station was suspended and was not restored for several hours.
