MULTAN: Former National Assembly Speaker Sahibzada Farooq Ali Khan passed away here on Sunday after a prolonged illness. He was 91.

He has left behind a widow, a son and a daughter.

Sahibzada Farooq was speaker of the Constituent Assembly which passed the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan. He remained the speaker of the National Assembly from Aug 9, 1973 to March 27, 1977.

His funeral prayers were held at Shahi Eidgah and was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the death of Sahibzada Farooq Ali Khan by saying that Mr Khan was a man of good qualities. “He remained associated with the party till his death and his death is a great loss to the party,” said Bilawal.
