ISLAMABAD: An elderly woman was found murdered in the capital, police said on Thursday.

The police identified the woman as Noor Jehan, 76, adding she was found dead at her house in Muslim Colony.

Her son Mohammad Akhter reported to the Secretariat police that he suspected his nephew behind the killing.

The incharge of the police homicide unit Inspector Abdul Sattar told Dawn that Mr Akhter, a hakim by profession, found his mother dead when he returned from Rawalpindi.

The police shifted the body to hospital for an autopsy.

The suspect has disappeared after the incidence, Mr Sattar said the police approached the father of the suspected killer but he said he had disowned his son due to his bad habits.

He used to visit his house once in a week or a fortnight, the father told the police.
