PESHAWAR: Estranged workers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, who call themselves the party’s ideological workers, have decided to demonstrate in Islamabad on Aug 17 to protest ‘injustices’ meted out to them in the party.

The decision was made during a meeting here on Tuesday. Former president of PTI Peshawar district Zafarullah Khattak said the party’s old workers were loyal to chairman Imran Khan but they would launch a movement against some ‘self-centred’ elements in the party.

He claimed that KP Governor Shah Farman, who had lost elections in two constituencies, was interfering in the party’s affairs.

“Shah Farman is patronising vested interests in the party, while the party’s founding workers are being ignored,” he said.

Leader of the PTI founding workers Mohammad Aamer claimed that corruption and nepotism were rampant within the party.

He said it had become need of the hour to launch a movement against corruption and nepotism in the party to expose the black sheep.

“Before proceeding to Islamabad on Aug 17, ideological workers and leaders of the PTI will address a news conference to disclose details of the demonstration,” he said.
