SUKKUR: A man allegedly shot dead his wife and her mother in the old city area of Sukkur on Sunday.

According to the area residents and police, Shakeel Siyal tried to bring back home his estranged wife, Sumera Siyal, who had been living with her parents for some time due to some serious differences with him.

On Sunday, Shakeel made his final attempt and asked Sumera to accompany him to their house but she did not agree. In a fit of anger, Shakeel opened fire killing Sumera on the spot, they said, adding that her mother tried to rescue Sumera but Shakeel also shot and critically wounded her. She also died while being shifted to a hospital.

The C-Section police took the two woman’s bodies to the Sukkur Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination and than handed them over to the hier.

Shakeel escaped from the area after committing the crime. An FIR of the double murder was not registered till late in the evening.
