ISLAMABAD: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday provided 24 new ventilators to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) to cater to Covid-19 patients.

According to an NDMA spokesman, the hospital required ventilators, as positive cases in the capital and adjoining areas have been on the rise.

The authority provided ventilators to Pims to deal with critical patients, he said, adding 12 portable vapor ventilators and 12 VG-70 ICU ventilators were given to Pims.

“Along with ventilators, 30 digital monitoring screens were also donated to the hospital,” he added.

He said that 12 V-PAP portable and three ICU ventilators have been donated by a Chinese company.

“A letter was also written to all provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, asking them to collect the ventilators from NDMA,” he said.
