DURING the prevailing coronavirus pandemic, various educational institutions have started online study. Likewise, Punjab education department has also taken a commendable initiative ‘Taleem Ghar’ which provides students an opportunity to watch lectures on their subjects on cable TV or on android phone.

It is, undoubtedly, a positive step to save the students’ time and provide them a new mode of instruction. On the other side of the picture, it also gives an opportunity to the authorities to formulate a set-up for the future to execute this practice more effectively.

It has been observed that a majority of students from rural areas and studying in government schools do not have the cable and Internet facilities at home. Therefore, there is a dire need to establish infrastructure and large networks to allow a maximum number of students to have access to these lectures on cable TV and mobile phones.

This is the time to digitalise our education system for the downtrodden. It will make a huge difference and will be play a vital role in providing quality education across the country, especially to those living in far-flung areas.
