PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has asked the FIA to investigate the circulation of a fake news on social media about a couple, both additional district and sessions judges, getting infected with Covid-19.

A complaint of the concerned additional sessions judge was forwarded to FIA’s regional director in Peshawar by an additional registrar (administration) of the high court on Tuesday, asking him to investigate the matter and intimate the court about it.

A few days ago, a news item purportedly released by a news agency had gone viral on WhatsApp wherein it was mentioned that the couple, serving in Peshawar, had gone to the residence of a pilgrim from Iran and got infected with Covid-19.

In the said fake news it was mentioned that the couple had been hiding their illness and continued to perform their duties at the Judicial Complex which had created scare among the legal fraternity.

Subsequently, it emerged that the couple had never visited any pilgrim and that they were also not suffering from any infection.
