RAWALPINDI: Fourteen members of a family, including a Punjab Constabulary (PC) official, have been quarantined after they tested positive for Covid-19.

PC personnel Kashif Nawaz, who had been performing duty at Police Training School Rawat since Nov 27 last year informed his office that all of his family members had tested positive for Covid-19. He also sent copies of their medical report to the muharar on April 7.

Mr Nawaz had been on leave since March 31and was staying with his family in Gujar Khan as his aunt had arrived from France.

Upon her arrival at Islamabad International Airport (IIA), she was cleared by the health authorities. A few days later, however, his aunt, who is an asthma patient, complained about breathing problem. She was immediately taken to the hospital where she tested positive for Covid-19. Her family members were also quarantined for 14 days at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU).

DSP Shoaib Aqueel told Dawn that when Mr Nawaz sent test results to the office, he was contacted by authorities concerned who found out that he along with members of his family were being treated at quarantine at RIU. Quoting Mr Nawaz, he said that the family was doing well but have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.

According to a police spokesman, Mr Nawaz had been posted at Rawat police station and had not come into close contact with anyone in Police Lines Rawalpindi.
