894,256 travellers screened for symptoms of virus so far: PM Office

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Thursday shared that as many as 894,256 travellers have so far been screened for symptoms of the novel coronavirus. Out of these, 471 have been tested for the virus.
In a tweet quoting data from the National Institute of Health, dated March 12, the PMO confirmed that of those tested, 20 people — not 21 as earlier reported — had been diagnosed positive for the virus till now. The number also includes two persons who have recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
According to data available on the NIH website, of the 20 cases, 14 are from Sindh, five from Gilgit-Baltistan and one from Balochistan.
Math error
Earlier, the Sindh government had reported that there were 15 confirmed cases in the province. The figure was, however, revised to 14 after the health officials realised an error in tabulating the results from the laboratory.
On Wednesday, Sindh Minister for Education Saeed Ghani had said that the number of coronavirus cases confirmed in the province was 14, and not 15 as was previously reported by the government.
He told Dawn.com that the error occurred due to a "misunderstanding", with one of the patients being counted twice after their name was incorrectly entered two times.
On Thursday, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab also confirmed in a press conference that 14 people have tested positive for the virus so far, adding that two of them have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

Screening for fever is not equal to screening for the virus and the health officials know this, so why mislead? One can have the virus and have no fever for many days, and still infect the community. If we dont talk in clear terms, we will only multiply the problem.

Screened for what? Runny nose and fever? What about the non traveling - residents who are likely to catch the infection? Very ineffective, half hearted, lame Effort (typical of PMIK office offerings).

Anybody have an explanation for why Pakistan infection rate is lower than any other country that borders China? Especially since Pakistan has apparently done little to nothing compared with procedures employed by other countries.

The PM should ask Sindh police to perform their duties. All marriage Halls, public places, food corners, resturants, courts must remain close for another 2-3 months. It is about people. Police should watch every institutes, public places. Even DIG and IG should perform their duties for 2-3 months in public. They should visit public places regularly. It is the duty of Sindh Ministers to inform about the truth / reality. Airport should be scanned properly. Neighbore houses of these sick persons must leave empty, until they get fully recover.
It is a global Epidemic. Mr. Saeed Ghani should resign, he is failed to speak the truth in Public, the number of infected people are more than he speaks. PM should send some Minister from Federal who can inform the PM about the truth. And please send Mr. Saeed Ghani back to his home. We need a kind of disinfectant spray, just like killing dengue mosquitoes. All UC consular should visit effected areas daily. They should clean their areas.

Does anyone know how many test kits specific to test this virus are available in the country? Even USA did not have enough test kits. No test does not mean no infection.

Negligence by governments of all levels starting with the federal government.
Not enough people being tested. I don’t believe the number of cases the government is officially claiming.
Life is cheap in Pakistan, especially of the poor and vulnerable in Pakistan.

China is flooded with coronavirus, Iran is struggling with coronavirus and we are told that Pakistan has only 20 cases of coronavirus. The only way this is possible is to not report the actual count or don’t do the test as required. Also they are not reporting any deaths, but the reports coming out of Pakistan say people have started to die already because of coronavirus. It is a shame when government hide the fact to deceive people.

I was one of them screened by health officials on arrival. And yes they measured my temprature. But I had to fill out several forms before arrival and non of thouse forms where looked at. on top of all I saw several forms all over the floors and was wondering what it was all about collecting all that information. As usual very un professionally handeld nothing but a big show to show once again that they are doing some thing.
