SUKKUR: When the case against Khan Bahadur Khuhro and others was resumed today [Jan 26], the Magistrate asked Mr. Partab Rai, Crown Counsel to produce the diary of Mr. Ray, Inspector-General of Police for inspection.

Mr. Dialmal continued his arguments on behalf of the defence. He said the prosecution witnesses who were poor villagers were helpless particularly when they were arrested by the police and asked to give evidence. They must have felt very wretched and must have said to themselves, “why this is one Khuhro Minister. We will even swear away the lives of all the Sind Ministers to save our skin”.

He quoted passages from the prosecution evidence and described the evidence as ‘silly and stupid’. He drew the pointed attention of the court to the psychological fact that had Khan Bahadur Khuhro entrusted Daresh with the task of arranging the murder of Allahbux, he would have told him to be careful and secretive. But the circumstances as related, [he] was not at all secretive about his contacts with the hurs. According to him it was apparent that Khan Bahadur Haji Moula Bux (Brother of Allah Bux) wanted to kill two birds with one stone…
