LAKE SUCCESS: Chaudhri Mohammad Zafrullah Khan, Pakistan chief delegate, today [May 7] urged that “Israel’s” admission to the United Nations be postponed until she had shown her willingness to abide by the United Nations Charter. Speaking … in the ad hoc Political Committee, Chaudhri Zafrullah said “Israel” must do three things as proof of this willingness. (1) Agree to co-operate in setting up an international regime in Jerusalem. (2) Allow Arab refugees who wish to do so to return to their land. (3) Restore to the Arabs those territories which are beyond the boundaries of the Assembly resolution.

“The setting up of the state of ‘Israel’ has set in motion a far reaching cultural and spiritual conflict, the magnitude of whose consequences it is not possible to assess at this stage,” Chaudhri Zafrullah said.

… “The United Nations would be deceiving itself and … both Christendom and the Muslim world, if it were to shut its eyes to the designs of ‘Israel’.” … The Chinese delegate … said that although the United Nations should insist on punishment of the murderers of Count Bernadotte, there was no justification for excluding “Israel” … until this was done. — News agencies
