ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is being converted into an e-filing office as 9,000 files have so far been scanned for the purpose.

Joint Secretary Ministry of Education Syed Umair Javed said there were total 14,000 files.

Mr Javed, who also works as the acting director general of FDE, said Human Resource Management System was also being installed at the directorate. He said data of all enrolled system will be available online while e-transfer of teachers will be introduced.

“Within three months, we will complete all these technology related projects,” he said and added that FDE was also being restructured as efforts were afoot to have two new posts of grade 20 and one post of DG (MP-II).

Talking about the shortage of teachers, he said FDE had already moved cases to the Federal Public Service Commission for hiring of 566 subject specialists. He said in almost 15 schools, technical education will be introduced in which students will be imparted level-four technical skills and after exams they will get ‘matric tech’ certificates. He said special focus is also being paid on capacity building of teachers.

The Development Working Party has already approved several projects for the education sector.

“Under the supervision of education minister Shafqat Mahmood, we are on the right track and in coming months people will start realising the outcome of the initiatives,” he said.
