PESHAWAR: An anti-terrorism court has convicted two members of the militant Islamic State group on the charge of planning to carry out an act of terrorism and sentenced them to 14 years rigorous imprisonment along with the confiscation of their all properties.

The court pronounced that the prosecution had proved its case against the accused, including Najeebullah of Khyber tribal district and Mohammad Suleman of Bajaur tribal district.

It also declared three absconders, including commander Ibrahim, Waheem Khan and Naqeebullah, proclaimed offenders and issued perpetual warrants for their arrest.

The prosecution claimed that the local police had received information about the presence of some members of the IS group on the Nasir Bagh Road.

It added that the police foiled a bid of the accused to carry out a terrorist attack at the Askari 6 residential colony near Nasir Bagh.

The police had recovered several hand grenades and other weapons from their possession.

The accused were convicted and sentenced to 14 years imprisonment each on two counts under the Explosive Substance Act and Anti-Terrorism Act.
