MUZAFFARGARH: A man has appealed to philanthropists and government circles to help him arrange funds for the treatment of his three children, all suffering from a rare heart disease.

Altaf Husain, of Rangpur, told Dawn on Wednesday his sons Subhan (five) and Rehan (three) and daughter Malaika (seven months) were born with underdeveloped parts of hearts. He said if they were not treated timely, their survival chances would diminish as his fourth child died due to lack of treatment last year.

He said he did not need donation but only treatment for them. He said the heart defects had stalled children’s growth.

Altaf, who is a labourer and does daily-wage jobs, said he got treated his children from the Muzaffargarh District Headquarters Hospital and the Nishtar Hospital in Multan only to be advised to take his children to India or America where the treatment was available.

Altaf appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and philanthropists for help.
