GUJRAT: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has bifurcated the sales metering system for Gujrat and Jalalpur Jattan to increase gas supply to domestic consumers of both these cities before winter sets in.

Ehsan Alam Bhatti, the SNGPL regional manager, said that earlier both the cities were being supplied gas from the same system due to which the consumers would often face low pressure, particularly in the winters.

However, he said that now the supply system for both cities had been separated and new systems bearing 40 pounds each installed due to which the pressure could be increased whenever required.

He said that the SNGPL would strive to cope with the complaints of low pressure in the winter.

Meanwhile, PML-Q MNA Chaudhry Hussain Elahi had on Thursday inaugurated a 16-inch gas pipeline for Jalalpur Jattan -- the main city of his constituency NA-68.
