MARDAN: A three-day international conference on biotechnology concluded here on Saturday with the stakeholders calling for extensive research and efforts in the field for development and prosperity of the country.

The conference on updates in biotechnology was organised by the department of biotechnology, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Dr Shahid Mansoor, director NIBGE Faisalabad, was the chief guest, according to a press release.

The conference was chaired by Dr Ayaz, chairman department of biotechnology, who also extended the vote of thanks to all the participants and guests.

The participants said students and researchers could use the knowledge and research skills they acquired in the conference in the best way.

They said the conference would help in boosting the innovation in the research environment of Abdul Wali Khan University, encouraging and creating research collaboration among the scientists and researchers nationwide.

Dr Ayaz issued the conference statement, saying it was a successful event in which scientists from around the country and abroad presented their papers on recent updates on biotechnology research.

He stated if given the opportunity the scientists would be able to play a vital role in the development of Pakistan. Cash awards and certificates were given to the winners in a poster competition. Shields of appreciation were also distributed among the members of the organising committee.
