Elvis Presley animated series on Netflix
On August 16, the 42nd death anniversary of the late music icon Elvis Presley, Netflix confirmed that it has planned a new animated series on the late music legend.
The content of Agent King series is action-comedy, targeted for the mature audience and it is co-created by Presley’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley and singer John Eddie.
Priscilla Presley and Eddie will executive produce the new show, with Mike Arnold to be in co-executive production and will serve as showrunner and writer.
Agent King imagines Presley, who died at age 42 in 1977, as a spy in addition to the king of rock and roll.
It should be noted that there is no connection between this Netflix series and the Australian director Baz Luhrmann’s biopic about Presley which begins production in early 2020.
Taylor Swift’s new album
Recently, pop music star Taylor Swift released the title track from her upcoming album Lover.
The lyric video for the slow-tempo love song has gotten more than 1.6 million views since it was posted on YouTube. The album, available since August 23, includes her latest hits “Archer” and “You Need to Calm Down.”
Swift was honoured with the Teen Choice Icon Award and she is slated to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards show on Aug, 26.
It’s all about Pokémon!
The first ever Pokémon Centre in Europe is opening in Shepherd’s Bush later this year and it’s going to have tonnes of exclusive merchandise.
The new Pokémon games Sword and Shield are inspired by a different real-world country, and in this case it’s the turn of the UK. If you’re a British Pokémon fan then you can head to the Westfield London shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush for the Pokémon Centre. Unfortunately, though the London one is only a pop-up Centre and that means it’s only going to be open from 18 October to 15 November, which is weirdly the day of Pokémon Sword/Shield’s release. This is apparently subject to change but even if it’s extended a bit it doesn’t seem like there’s any plan to make it permanent.
Pokémon Centres started in Japan, with much of their merchandise being unique to the stores. There are currently 12 centres in Japan, but only four in the US (which are actually just glorified vending machines), and one in Singapore.
