SAHIWAL: Doctors at the Sahiwal DHQ Teaching Hospital conducted a successful operation of tear duct blockage, clinically called endoscopic DCR.

The operation was conducted by optometrists (eye department) and otolaryngologists (ENT specialists).

Dr Muhammad Tariq, one of the team members, said the operation was first of its kind. It is said the operation is done without any cut on the face and the technology of endoscopic camera is used.

Dr Tariq said the operation was very safe for elderly, women and children and in the future, such operations would be conducted on a regular basis.

ACCIDENT: A poultry van ran over and killed two siblings near village 149/EB, Arifwala, on Friday.

Asima (8) and Husnain (5) were doing errands when the van hit them. They died at the scene.

The driver fled the scene.

The Arifwala Saddar police registered a case against the driver.
