Artworks of Swat varsity students attract visitors to exhibition

MINGORA: The paintings and art designs of the girl students of University of Swat attracted a large number of visitors to a two-day exhibition here on Thursday.

The exhibition was organised by art and design department of the university to showcase the artworks of students. “The exhibition is meant to show the world that how talented and creative are the students of Swat,” said Rehmania Aman, the teacher of art and design and organiser of the event.

She said that the exhibition featured pieces of thread art, screen painting, block paintings, abstract art, mosaic art, ceramic styles, dry flower arrangement, calligraphy and some other mediums.

Appreciation encourages students of art and design department

The students, who took part in the exhibition, said whatever they observed and felt, they translated it into their arts. They said that they were excited to receive appreciation from the visitors.

“I feel excited for the appreciation the visitors show for my paintings. I am also grateful to my department for organising the art and design exhibition. The praise and appreciation shown by the visitors encouraged me,” said Taskeen, a student, whose paintings received great appreciation from the visitors.

Javeria, another student, said that they created various art and design pieces throughout the year as it was part of their practical work and finally presented the same at the exhibition.

“Through the art pieces exhibited here, the students have not only translated their creative skills but I understand that the handicrafts skill is beneficial in their future life as women can earn enough by making and sending such pieces to the market for sale,” she said.

Dr Mohammad Jamal, the vice-chancellor of the university, said that the paintings and art designs of students impressed him. “When I saw the paintings and other art pieces, I was highly impressed,” he added.

Dr Jamal said that all the masterpieces created by the students attested their creative skills and potential.

“The university will promote students to lift them to higher and professional level,” he promised and said that the university would display all the art pieces after paying to the students to encourage them.
