SWABI: Unidentified assailants shot dead a couple inside their house in Dubian village of Yar Hussain area here on Friday.

The victims were identified as Haidar Ali and his wife. Both died on the spot and the attackers escaped. Yar Hussain police registered an FIR and have started investigation.

The local people and relatives of the couple have demanded arrest of the assailants. They also criticised the doctors of Yar Hussain hospital for their failure to conduct postmortem of the victims for four hours.

The people said that local politicians had claimed that the hospital had been elevated to category-D, but services there were still very poor. The incumbent local government minister Shahram Tarakai had inaugurated the upgraded hospital during the previous government of PTI.

“A lady doctor came and said that she was not feeling well. We talked to an MPA and he said that one of the senior doctors had been transferred, but he managed stay from a court. When the government is helpless against doctors what will be fate of the people,” said an enraged cousin of Haider Ali.

Meanwhile, an Afghan refugee, identified as Sobat Khan, was killed by unidentified assailants at Gohati refugee camp. In another incident, one Darvaish Khan, a worker at Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate, allegedly committed suicide in his house at Labour Colony here on Friday.

The deceased belonged to Buner district. His sons Azmat Khan, 14, and Jawad Khan, 15, who have been living with him told police that their father ended his own life by shooting himself. The local police have registered an FIR.

ARRESTED: The police have arrested two alleged thieves of electricity transformers. Officials said that police stopped a car (FDO/878) near Jehangira bridge and recovered coil and other stolen materials from it and arrested Obaid Khan and Ziyad Khan. Police have registered an FIR against them.
