ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has snapped electricity connections of 26 government departments for not clearing their dues.

The Iesco spokesman said power supply to Capital Development Authority (CDA), education ministry, police department, sports and culture ministry, Islamabad chief commissioner and offices of Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) had been disconnected.

He said 16 connections of CDA, two of Islamabad chief commissioner, Parliament Lodges Officers Hostel, Koral police station, Government Girls School Shakrial had been severed.

A total of Rs16.8 million dues were outstanding against these departments, he said.

The spokesman said dues against CDA stood at Rs4,403,000, chief commissioner at Rs8,304,000, Parliament Lodges Officers Hostel Rs2,500,000, Koral police station Rs917,000, Government Girls School Shakrial Rs74,000, sports ministry Rs100,048 and AGPR sub-offices over Rs48,000.

The spokesman said Iesco chief had directed manager recovery to coordinate with all the departments for payment on daily basis.
