It is sad that it takes tragedies to bring people close to each other, and such as been the case following the terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

New Zealand has been one of the most peaceful and inclusive places in the world with little of the global racism creeping in to poison the daily life there. The tragic incident came as a shock to its citizens and also to the rest of the world and most people were quick to condemn Islamophobia.

It is time that we all denounce hate in all forms, and against all religions and nations. Inciting hate has become fashionable these days, especially among politicians and religious leaders. Maybe they think they can’t get any support until they make their followers hate others. I believe they should work on making people love them and love others too.

People should also realise that hate and anger only make the world a terrible place for everyone, even for those who endorse such hate speeches.

Getting it right in exams

This is regarding the article “Getting it right in exams” by Arif Iftikhar (YW, February 23).

Some students these days are engrossed in playing games, chatting with friends on gadgets and doing many other co-curricular activities than actually studying. The distractions are so strong and attractive that it becomes really hard to concentrate on studies, which seem so boring, dull and dry.

I would suggest to all the readers to get serious with their studies because you can play later, you can hang out with your friends later, but you cannot study later for now is the time to make your future bright.

I agree with the writer when he says that there is no substitute to hard work. You cannot pass exams by magic, all you have to do is study and work hard for your exams.

Imperfect beauty

This is regarding the cover story, “Imperfect beauty” by Fida Hussain (YW, February 2). It was an amazing compilation of colour mutation in animals and birds. All the animals described in the article were very interesting and it actually gave a message to its readers that everything, whether perfect or imperfect, has its own unique beauty. And we should not set rules for perfect beauty.
