ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Health Services (NHS) Aamer Mehmood Kiani on Tuesday made a surprise visit to G-7/3 dispensary and found civil surgeon absent from his duty.

He asked the Executive Director Polyclinic Dr Shahid Hanif to initiate disciplinary proceedings against absent Civil Surgeon Dr Tanveer Afsar.

There shall be zero tolerance for absence from duty and negligence, he said.

The minister also directed the executive director to ensure presence and punctuality of the hospital staff. Minister directed the executive director to provide a list of out-of-order ambulances so that they might be replaced with new ones.

Later on, Mr Kiani visited the G-7/3 school of nursing and said nursing sector was the backbone of health system and steps were being taken to improve it.

He also visited G-7/2 dispensary and enquired after the patients and reviewed the facilities there.
