GHALANAI: Peace has been restored in the Mohmand tribal district due to sacrifices rendered by the security forces and the tribesmen.

This was stated by additional deputy commissioner Irfanullah Khan Wazir while speaking at the concluding ceremony of the fourth all Mohmand private schools sports festival at the Captain Rohullah Shaheed Sports Stadium here on Monday.

The event was organised by Pakistan Red Crescent and all private schools association Mohmand.

Mr Wazir said after restoration of peace development works were going on in the tribal district. He asked the youth to actively participate in the sports activities.

He said that PRCS was the only organisation which had installed a ‘wall of kindness’ in the district for the first time. He said successful holding of the sports tournament was evidence that peace had been restored to the tribal district.

Mr Wazir said the district administration in collaboration with the sports department and PRCS would provide equal opportunities to tribal youth to play their role in nation building.

“Mohmand youth have the ability to shine in sports at national and international levels, and they would be provided facilities and opportunities,” he added.

District program officer Irfan Khan told journalists that the fourth private schools sports festival continued from Nov 6 to 19, which also featured various cultural activities.

He said volleyball, football, judo karate, cricket, badminton, baseball, table tennis, tug-of-war, hockey, athletics, netball, boxing and archery were played during the festival.
