ISLAMABAD: Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Javed Jahangir on Tuesday claimed his department recovered Rs106 billion from different government institutions during the previous financial year.

While presenting annual performance report of the department for financial year 2017-18 to acting president Sadiq Sanjrani, Mr Jahangir assured the president that transparency would be brought by looking into the financial issues and projects.

He also said that departments would be pushed to adopt correct direction.

The acting President praised the efforts of Auditor General of Pakistan’s team for eradicating corruption and bringing transparency in government departments.

He expressed the hope that these policies would not only plug leakages but bring billions of rupees to the exchequer.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Jahangir said he informed the President that a decision has been made to bring reforms in the department.

“Not only capacity building of the staff is being enhanced through trainings, but system is also being automated to improve the performance and quality of the work,” he said.
