MANSEHRA: The Pakistan Peoples Party and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal have finalised a seat adjustment formula to jointly contest elections in some constituencies of Mansehra and Torghar districts.

Modalities for the electoral cooperation were finalised during a meeting attended by PPP divisional president Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah and MMA president Syed Hidayatullah Shah and leaders from both sides.

He said PPP candidate Shuja Salim Khan withdrew his nomination papersin favour of MMA candidate Mufti Kifayatullah in NA-14 and MMA nominee Attaullah in favour of PPP contender Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah in PK-30.

The MMA leader said the PPP would also support MMA contender Maulana Nasir Mehmood in PK-33 and MMA’s Shaukat Khan in PK-35.

“We expect to win most of two national and six provincial assembly seats in Mansehra and Torghar districts by trouncing the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz,” he said.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law retired captain Mohammad Safdar is the PML-N’s candidate in NA-14.
