MURREE: The Murree police have registered a case against a grandson of Pir of Mohrra and others on the charge of attacking local people a few days ago.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kamran Hameed confirmed to Dawn that the case had been registered against Murad Badshah and 200 other people, including his security guards and followers.

The FIR was registered after a protest was held at Kuldanna Bazaar on Sunday against the attack by the security guards and followers of the pir’s grandson on local people.

The protesters gave the deadline of Wednesday for the arrest of the accused persons otherwise, they warned, all roads leading to Mohrra Darbar would be closed.

They said the grandson of the pir and some of hisfollowers along with private security guards were going towards the shrine when a taxi jeep stopped in front of them to drop passengers. The driver of the pir’s vehicle started honking the horn loudly which led to a scuffle between the pir’s followers and the local people.

The protesters alleged that the security guards of the pir beat the locals and opened fire in the air.

Later, the private guards and followers of the pir allegedly attacked the houses of the locals with whom they had scuffled even though the matter had been settled at the roadside. Four people were injured in the attack, one of them critically. The protesters blocked the Kashmir Highway for several hours and dispersed after the police assured them that action would be taken against the alleged attackers.
