ACCORDING to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended April 27, 2018 deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs12,276.660 billion after a 0.74 per cent decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs12,186.973bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs11,214.048bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 9.47pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs12,211.672bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs12,116.703bn, showing a rise of 0.78pc.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs17,081.759bn, higher by 2.58pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,651.907bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 9.13pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs15,653.069bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks rose by 3.20pc against the preceding week’s figure

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,834.096bn, higher by 2.65pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,399.354bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks increased in the week under review. It rose by 15.64pc to Rs2,539.803bn against previous week’s Rs2,196.389bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs2,274.211bn, current week’s figure is higher by11.68pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,448.485bn were higher by 16.28pc against previous week’s Rs2,105.524bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs7,784.402bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,542.345bn, higher by 3.20pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,794.310bn, current week’s figure is lower by 0.13pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs7,733.013bn, higher by 3.30pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,485.548bn.

Notes in circulation stood at Rs4,415.293bn during the week ended April 27, according to the Statement of Affairs of the State Bank of Pakistan, against Rs4,423.930bn a week earlier, showing a fall of 0.20pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs3,731.475bn, current week’s figure is higher by 18.32pc.

Approved foreign exchange at Rs263.825bn, was lower by 30.32pc over last week’s Rs378.647bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs769.976bn, current week’s figure is smaller by 65.74pc.
