ISLAMABAD: Two brothers were killed and two others injured by a group of seven people over a petty issue on Friday.

The incident took place at 66 Quarters Katchi Abadi in G-7/1. Police said Waseem Masih came to a street near his house and asked his younger brothers Shahzor Masih, Amjad Masih and Waqar Masih to return home.

A group of seven people was also present in the street and one of them started calling Shahzor as his son. However, Wassem objected and asked him not to call his brother as his son.

This annoyed the group of seven people who attacked Waseem and his brothers. The police said two of the seven people, who were carrying knives, stabbed the brothers.

The attackers then escaped from the scene. Amjad died on the spot and the three others were taken to hospital where Shahzor also died.

On the complaint of Wassem, the police registered a case against the seven people.

Later, tension gripped the slum after rumours spread that the police had registered a case against the victims. The residents assembled on a road to lodge a protest.

However, officials from the Aabpara police station reached the spot and informed the protesters that they had registered only one case and that was against the attackers. On the assurance of the police, the protesters dispersed.
