OKARA: The Punjab government has approved Rs1 billion for the first phase of the extension of the building of University of Okara (UoO).

The plan includes the construction of an academic block, an auditorium, a mosque and hostels.

UoO Registrar Prof Dr Wajid, Buildings Sub-Divisional Officer Sajid Rasheed and Development Director Habib Jilani briefed Sahiwal Commissioner Ali Bahadar Qazi about the plan at a meeting on Wednesday.

The commissioner approved the plan and also visited the security control room. He directed the staff to get repaired security gadgets. The commissioner directed the registrar to manage the final approval of the construction from the government at the earliest.

PROTEST: School health nutrition supervisors are going protest today (Thursday) in front of the Punjab Assembly against non-regularisation of their jobs.

Supervisors also protested at the Okara Press Club where Shahbaz Bodla demanded confirmation of their jobs.

Other speakers Hafiz Imtiaz Ahmad, Chaudhry Safdar, Rizwan Siddiqui and Aamir Awan said that they had been serving for the last 10 years on contract.
