Policeman shot dead in Dera

DERA ISMAIL KHAN/NOWSHERA: A constable was killed when unidentified assailants attacked him in Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday.

Sources said the victim, Wilayatullah Gandapur, was on leave from the police department as he had sustained injuries during an encounter with terrorists in the Gomal University area some time ago. They said that two terrorists had been killed in the encounter.

The sources said Wilayatullah was going home when the armed men attacked him. He died instantly. The Kulachi police registered the case against unidentified attackers and started investigation.

Meanwhile, an army man was killed and another sustained injuries when unknown motorcyclists opened fire on them during a robbery attempt on Pabbi-Cherat road in Nowshera on Saturday night.

Police sources said Naik Saheeb and his brother lance naik Abdul Samad, residents of Akbarpura, were going home on a motorcycle when their bike developed some fault and they stopped.

Police said they were busy in repairing the motorcycle when two men riding a bike stopped by and snatched cash and mobile phones from them.

They said the robbers opened fire on them while fleeing the spot. As a result, Saheeb was killed on the spot, while Samad suffered injuries. They were taken to Mian Rashid Shaheed Hospital, Pabbi, where doctors referred the injured man to CMH Nowshera.
