SUKKUR, May 9: A petition was filed against 400 policemen in the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, on Monday following raids on houses of Shar tribesmen. Tribe’s chief Sardar Ahmad Yar Shar filed the petition against the policemen, including Ghotki DPO Agha Tahir, TPO Ghulam Nabi Chachar and SHOs of Daharki, Ubauro and Wasti Jeevan Shah, on charges of raiding and setting the houses and wheat stock of the tribesmen on fire, maltreating them and looting household articles.

According to Ahmad Yar’s lawyer, the court will issue notices to the parties tomorrow.

CANAL BREACH: A 100-foot-wide breach developed in the Mehrab Pur Minor on Sunday night, inundating hundreds of acres of wheat crop fields.

The affected villages include Bakhoo Khan Soomro, Wahid Bux Chanio, Suhrab Khan Soomro and Pir Qaim Ali Shah.

Villagers plugged the breach in the morning. No irrigation official visited the site.

ACCIDENT: A man was killed after being run over by a train at the Mehrab Pur railway station on Monday.

The man, Mohammad Ramzan, 30, was going to Daur from Punjab in the train when he slipped and came under the wheels of the train.
