PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has recommended filing of a supplementary reference worth Rs4.48 billion in accountability courts against Afzal Khaliq alias Double Shah and others for corruption and corrupt practices and cheating public at large.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, the case is already under trial in the accountability court, while additional claims of Rs4.48 billion had been received by 876 affected people in the instant case. It was stated that the approval was given in the regional board meeting of KP NAB which was held under the chairmanship of its director retired Brig Farooq Naser Awan in Peshawar.

The meeting was attended by directors, additional directors, case officers and senior legal consultants.

The board recommended filing of a reference in accountability courts against Arshad Pervez and Nadeem Pervez of Sky Pharmacy, Peshawar, for corruption and corrupt practices and cheating public at large.

The accused lured general public to invest their money in their fake modaraba/medicine business on the promise that they would be paid huge profits on their investment.

Another reference was approved against administration of Al-Hamra Builders, Mardan. The administration of Al-Hamra Builders posed itself as an Islamic Modarabat Company and asked for investment.

The board recommended conversion of inquiry into investigation against Sher Alam (a private person) and others for illegal transfer of government land at Malam Jabba, Swat. During the inquiry it was revealed that the accused Sher Alam in connivance with other accused persons fraudulently transferred 1,263 kanals at Malam Jabba in his name through fake documents.

The board also recommended conversion of inquiry into investigation against administration of Al-Haram Model Town, Peshawar.
