SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court bench at Sukkur has ordered the district health officers (DHOs) of Naushahro Feroze, Khairpur, Sukkur and Ghotki districts to register cases against quacks and seal their clinics, and submit an implementation report to the court on Feb 7.

The court warned DHOs of action if they failed to comply with the orders. It also directed all deputy commissioners and senior superintendents of police to extend their cooperation to DHOs in taking action against the quacks.

The bench comprising Justice Nadeem Akhtar Malik and Justice Muhammad Iqbal Mahar passed the order on Tuesday after hearing a petition filed by Dr Ajeet Kumar, resident of Ghotki, through his counsel Advocate Ali Hyder Ada Dreshani.

The petitioner had stated that health department officials of Ghotki district conducted raids on his registered laboratories without any justification but no action was taken against quacks who were a real threat to people, he added.

The petitioner prayed to court to enforced its relevant order.
