KASUR: The alternate dispute resolution (ADR) centre has resolved 190 cases, including four murder cases, in the last three-and-a-half months while 157 cases are in the pipeline for reconciliation.

This was stated by Kasur District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Tanvir Akbar while addressing a seminar at Library Hall, adjacent to his office on Thursday.

He said the ADR centre was a platform for win-win solution for both the parties involved in litigation.

He said the practice was going on in many developed countries of the world.

Mediator Farzana Kausar said the litigant parties that were involved in litigation for years were amicably coming to the table and resolving their differences. She said the court never forced the parties to reconcile but the parties did so with a consensus.

She added that once the parties reconciled, the hatchets were buried forever and none of the party had the right to go in appeal.

The judges present on the occasion included Shamila Yaqoob, Naeem Abbas, Zafar Iqbal, Shoaib Anwar Qurashi, Amir Nazir Awan and Sajjad Ali Qasim.

Bar President Malik Riaz Ahmed and Secretary General Munawar Hayat were also present.

ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested 25 suspects, including eight proclaimed offenders.

According to an official handout, the police launched a search operation in Dosahra Ground, Raja Jang, Zaheerabad Colony, Chunian and Habiababad in Pattoki on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

The handout said police searched 52 houses and interrogated 71suspects through the biometric verification and arrested 25 of them.

Police also claimed to have recovered illegal weapons and narcotics from the suspects.
