THE people of Pakistan join today [Oct 26] their brethren in Iran in celebrating the Coronation ceremony of Their Imperial Majesties Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi Shahanshah Aryamehr and Shahbanu Farah of Iran, which is being held today in Teheran.

The occasion is being celebrated in Pakistan with great enthusiasm and gaiety as a mark of affection for the Shahanshah and the brotherly people of Iran.

National flags of Iran and Pakistan will fly side by side on all public buildings throughout the country.

The Pakistan Post Office will Issue a special commemorative stamp today.

In Karachi and other principal towns, a large number of social and cultural organisations and Government departments are holding functions, meetings, rallies, exhibitions, seminars and variety shows to mark the occasion.

Several of the public places have been illuminated in Karachi — the big traffic island on the national highway, public restaurants owned by Irani nationals and the Pakistan-Iran Cultural Association’s premises, to name a few.

All educational institutions, including the Karachi University, and business establishments will remain closed today.

At 8-30 a.m. a march-past and physical display of school children will be held at the Hockey Stadium. Dr Ahmed Teherani, Consul-General of Iran, will be the chief guest.

The students and teachers of the Iranian Secondary School, Kharadar, will distribute gifts to the Civil Hospital patients. They will reach the hospital in procession at 8-30 a.m.

At 9-30 a.m. the Central Education Minister, Kazi Anwarul Haque, will inaugurate an exhibition of Persian poetical works at the National Museum of Pakistan, Bagh-i-Jinnah.
