PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party’s provincial deputy general secretary Bahramand Tangi has asked Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan to stop the politics of confrontation otherwise workers of his party will start protest demonstrations against him across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, he said that confrontational attitude of the PTI chief had caused anger among the PPP workers and they could not tolerate to hear, what he called, abusive language against party’s co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Mr Tangi said that Mr Zardari had endured prolonged imprisonment of about 11 years and was released when the court exonerated him of the charges against him. He said that all those calling Mr Zardari a corrupt politician were committing contempt of court.

He said that the PTI chief should first hold his own ministers and officials of the provincial government accountable and then point fingers at others. Referring to the performance of various departments, he said that PTI had done nothing for welfare of people in the province.

“I am ready for a live debate with Mr Khan on the performance of his party’s government which has failed to initiate even a single mega development scheme,” he said and claimed that the PTI leadership lacked the capacity to carry out uplift schemes.

Mr Tangi asked the PTI chief to focus on KP so that his government could do something for welfare of the people during the remaining part of its tenure, otherwise the people would not let his workers to seek votes in 2018. He said that Mr Khan had failed to fulfil his promise of corruption-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He claimed that PPP would record a clean sweep in the next general elections and make its government alone in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He described as encouraging when asked about the position of PPP candidate in the NA-4 by-election.
