NOWSHERA: Chairman of the complaint cell set up by the chief minister to oversee development projects in Nowshera district on Wednesday resigned from his post over alleged corruption in the uplift works.

Talking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Haji Hussain Ahmad demanded of the provincial government to form committees at union council level to ensure transparent completion of development works.

He admitted that corruption had been taking place in the development projects, even in his own union council.

He said he had performed his job entrusted to him by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and district nazim Laiqat Khattak.

“I resigned as I felt that problems were being created for me by some government officials,” he said, adding he tried his best to curb corruption in Nowshera in line with the vision of party chairman Imran Khan and CM Pervez Khattak.

Mr Ahmad, who is also the member of the district council, said if any corruption was proved against him during his 30 years of political and administrative career, he would put himself for accountability.

He also said he had taken action against the government contractors found involved in use of substandard materials.

Replying a question, he said being chairman of the complaint cell, he had the knowledge of who was corrupt and who was honest.
