KARACHI: Day 2 of the ongoing Fashion Pakistan Week being held here showcased designs by Sanam Chaudhri, Wardha Saleem, Emraan Rajput, Sadaf Malaterre, HEM and Deepak Perwani.
Sanam Chaudhri opened with Pandora, a collection crafted along the lines of late ‘80s and early ‘90s power couture. Defined as starkly masculine yet essentially feminine, the bling factor in the collection remained minimal with stress on cuts and festive colours. The segment featured jewellery by Jaipur & Co with shoes by Charles & Keith.
Dholak Festive by Wardha Saleem featured statement-making refreshing women’s wear and menswear in candy colours and gemstone hues seeped in gota, silk thread embroidery and metallic embellishments as the ramp came to dramatic life with colourful pennons, live dhol, folk songs and tunes.
The Gentlemen’s Club by Emraan Rajput had premier suits in stark blacks, fine checks and stripes with a few colours thrown in for good measure. It attempted to reintroduce the double-breasted jacket and overall the line appeared debonair and elegant.
Sadaf Malaterre’s bright, young and sexy line for the young at heart had sheer fabric crafted into two-tone spaghetti strap tops, jumpsuits, sequined cocktail dresses and gowns, and a smattering of ruffles, frills and tassels.
The Royal Collection by HEM attempted to revive techniques and experiment with new ones to create imperial looks with crystal tassels and more of the same.
Gold Dust by Deepak Perwani was a nostalgic nod to the past and about the heritage of the subcontinent. Contemporary and modern, the women’s wear was brought to life on the ramp with jewellery by Sheherzade.
