HYDERABAD: An officer of the Liaquat University of Medical and Healthe Sciences (LUMHS) on Sunday held a press conference to narrate his ordeal since the March 31 raid by a team of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and police personnel.

Allahdino Mallah, along with his women family members, claimed that the team seized Rs700,000 in cash, gold jewellery worth Rs2 million, several mobile phone sets, all licensed arms, a laptop and property papers.

He said that around 50 law enforcers took part in the raid. He said that his two sons, Sajid Ali, a Nadra (National Database and Registration Authority) employee, and Jawaid Ali, a former Nadra employee, were also taken away by the team.

He alleged that CTD officials had warned him against telling anyone about their treatment to the family members during and after the raid and had threaten him with dire consequences if he defied their warning. He further alleged that a CTD official later demanded money for the release of his two sons.

Mr Mallah said that he filed an application in the Jamshoro sessions and district court on April 1 and a petition in the Sindh High Court on April 5 for the recovery of his sons and valuables. Eventually, he said, Sajid Ali was released on April 11. He feared that his other son, Jawaid Ali, might be killed in custody.

He appealed to the president, army chief and heads of law enforcement agencies to look into the matter and ensure safety and security of his family.
