A former adviser of the Sindh government, Nawab Ali Leghari, was allegedly kidnapped in Islamabad on Tuesday from the jurisdiction of Lohi Bher police station.

An initial application presented to the police by the cousin of the abductee claimed some individuals in a black Toyota Vigo, claiming to be government employees, kidnapped the former adviser from his residence after checking his identity card.

The police accepted the application presented and registered a First Information Report (FIR). Police officials have decided to view CCTV footage from the area in order to gain clues towards Leghari's recovery.

No possible motive was given by the police for the kidnapping.

Nisar orders all possible assistance

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday condemned the suicide attack on a census team in Lahore and instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide all possible help for the investigation.

Chief of General Staff (CJS) Lt Gen Bilal Akbar also telephoned the interior minister and discussed cooperation between civil and military institutions.

Nisar also asked the concerned authorities to submit a report as soon as possible regarding the terror attack and expressed grief with the families of the slain soldiers and census workers.

The interior minister said it needs to be examined how the attack took place and questioned if there were any reports about an impending attack.
