LAHORE: Renowned classical singer Ustad Fateh Ali Khan was laid to rest at Mominpura Graveyard on Thursday.

Fateh Ali Khan of Patiala Ghrana of classical music was suffering from lungs disease and had been admitted to hospital in Islamabad for the last couple of weeks.

His body was shifted to Lahore last night for burial at the ancestral graveyard of his family.

Funeral prayers for the music legend were held at Karbala Gamay Shah which were attended by a good number of people. Prominent among them were Sarwat Ali, former general manager of PTV Lahore, Farrukh Bashir, singer Fida Hussain, Shafqat Amanat, flute player Tariq Farani, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Hyderabadi, singer Abdur Rauf and Pervez Paris.

According to Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, the late Ustad Fateh Ali Khan’s younger brother, qul will be held on Friday (today) after Juma prayers at Karim Park.
