Sock snowman

Published January 7, 2017

In a lot of places in Pakistan, we never get to see snow falling, especially in the major cities. But in northern areas of Pakistan snowfall is seen every year and people there indulge in a lot of fun activities when this happens.

Similarly, making a snowman from snow is a pretty fun activity to do and those who can’t make a real snowman can at least indulge in making snowman crafts. So today, we are also making a snowman out of things you can easily find around the house.

Things you need:

  1. Used or old white socks (you can use new if you want)

  2. One bright coloured sock (you can use striped or dotted)

  3. Two hand full of cotton wool, old scraps of clothes or one cup rice if your mum allows you to use it.

  4. Three small buttons to use on the front part of the body.

  5. Three black beads for eyes and nose (you can use buttons if you don’t have beads)

  6. Glue

  7. Scissors

  8. Three rubber bands

Directions:

  1. Take the white sock and cut it one inch below the heel area, as in pic 2.

  2. This heel part is the bottom of snowman so hold it tight and tie it with a rubber band, as in pic 3.

  3. Take the inside out, so the rubber band part is hidden, as in pic 4.

  4. Now fill it with wool or old clothes. I used rice, because rice gives it a perfect look, shape and weight, see pic 5.

  5. Leaving just one inch on the top, tie it with a rubber band, as in pic 6.

  6. Leaving one and a half inch from above to separate head from the body, tie another rubber band. The part below is the body and it will be relatively bigger, as in pic 7. Keep it aside.

  7. Now, take the coloured sock, leaving the heal side, cut as in pic 8.

  8. Fold the edges, as this toe part from the coloured sock will be the beanie of your snowman in pic 9.

  9. Cut a six-inch length strip from the remaining part of the coloured sock to make the muffler. Alternatively, you can use a ribbon or a bow, see pic 10.

  10. Glue the eyes, nose beads on the head and buttons on the body, as in pic 11.

  11. Then wrap the ribbon around the neck of the snowman and then put on the beanie.

    Your cute snowman is ready!
